Practical Exam Requirements

IM=X® Pilates Basic Certification

The IM=X® Basic Mat Practical Exam: For this practical exam, you will be expected to demonstrate your knowledge of the IM=X® 5 Fundamentals and your ability to teach the IM=X® Pilates Advanced Floor format within 60 minutes using the ring and body bar. Please refer to the Practical Exam checklist in your certification manual for scoring criteria. At the time of your Practical Exam video submission, you must also submit your Written Exam, and upload documentation of 20 apprentice hours, and your valid CPR certification.

The IM=X® Basic Xercizer (Reformer) Practical Exam: For this practical exam, you will be expected to demonstrate your knowledge of the IM=X® 5 fundamentals and your ability to teach the IM=X Pilates Intermediate Xercizer format within 60 minutes. Please refer to the Practical Exam checklist in your certification manual for scoring criteria. At the time of your Practical Exam video submission, you must also submit your Written Exam, and upload documentation of 20 apprentice hours, and your valid CPR certification.

Both IM=X® Basic Mat and IM=X® Basic Xercizer practical exams must be submitted within three months of your IM=X® Basic certification course.

Extensions: In the case of unforeseen circumstances, we allow one extension of up to three months to complete your practical exam. To purchase a three-month extension, please click here. Failure to submit your Practical Exam material within a total of six (6) months of course completion will result in forfeiture of your Practical Exam fees, and you will be required to retake the IM=X® Basic certification course.

IM=X® Pilates Advanced Certification

IM=X® Advanced Xercizer (Reformer) Practical Exam:
Part A:
You will demonstrate your ability to teach either the IM=X® Stretch, Abs, Interval Training or Hybrid Workout format. Although these formats should be memorized, you may briefly glance at the format three or four times.
Part B: You will next demonstrate your proficiency in teaching all of the new exercises as they occur in sequence. Please be sure to communicate the verbal and tactile cues and have a thorough knowledge of the research that supports the IM=X® Fundamentals.

For Students who have Previously Completed the IM=X® Super Advanced Xercizer Exam: You will demonstrate your ability to teach an IM=X® Stretch (30 minute format), IM=X® Ab (30 minute format), IM=X® Interval Training and IM=X® Hybrid Workout. Although all four formats should be memorized, you may briefly glance at the format three or four times. Please be sure to use verbal and tactile cues with a strong focus on the IM=X® fundamentals.

Your IM=X® Advanced practical exam must be submitted within three months of your IM=X® Advanced certification course.

IM=X® Advanced Floor Practical Exam:
You will demonstrate your ability to teach two of our proprietary formats and then all of the new exercises as they occur in sequence. Please be sure to communicate verbal and tactile cues and have a thorough knowledge of the research that supports the IM=X® Five fundamentals. This Practical Exam is approximately three hours in length.

 

IM=X® Pilates Tower and Tower Barre Certification

The IM=X® Tower and Tower/Barre Practical Exam: For this practical exam, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability to instruct each of the IM=X® Tower sequences as well as each of the IM=X® Tower/Barre sequences, with an emphasis on the IM=X® Five Fundamentals.

Your IM=X® Tower and Tower/Barre practical exam must be submitted within three months of your IM=X® Tower and Tower/Barre certification course.

Extensions: In the case of unforeseen circumstances, we allow one extension of up to three months to complete your practical exam. IM=X® Super Advanced Xercizer Certification

The IM=X® Super Advanced Xercizer (Reformer) Practical Exam:
Part A: For this practical exam, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability to teach of the new IM=X® Advanced exercises as they occur in sequence. Please be sure to communicate the verbal and tactile cues and have a thorough knowledge of the research that supports the IM=X® Fundamentals.
Part B: Then, please explain which IM=X® exercises or sequences need to be avoided and which ones should be focused on for a pregnant client. Be sure to cite the ACOG guidelines. Next, explain what exercises need to be avoided and others focused on for someone with a history of back issues. Please thoroughly explain the science behind the IM=X® fundamentals and why it is so important for golfers, persons with back discomfort or pregnancy (hint: memorize the research abstracts in the manual).

For Students who have Previously Completed the IM=X® Advanced Xercizer Practical Exam:
Part A: Demonstrate your ability to teach IM=X® Upper Body Workout (30 minute format), IM=X® Lower Body Workout (30 minute format) and an IM=X® Golf Format. You may briefly glance at each format three or four times per workout.
Part B: Then, please explain which IM=X® exercises or sequences need to be avoided and which ones should be focused on for a pregnant client. Be sure to cite the ACOG guidelines. Next, explain what exercises need to be avoided and others focused on for someone with a history of back issues. IM=X® Platform Certification

The IM=X® Platform Practical Exam: For this practical exam, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability to teach all exercises of the IM=X® Platform sequences with a strong emphasis on the IM=X® Five Fundamentals.

Your IM=X® Platform Practical Exam must be submitted within three months of your IM=X® Platform certification course.

IM=X® Cardio Certification

IM=X® Cardio or Heart Rate Training (HRT) Practical Exam – For this Practical Exam, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability to teach the IM=X® Jog Board choreography or IM=X® Indoor Cycling formats.

Your IM=X® Cardio Practical Exam must be submitted within three months of your IM=X® Cardio certification course.

IM=X® Yoga Certification

IM=X® Yoga Practical Exam: For this Practical Exam, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability to instruct all eight standing and six floor sequences of the IM=X® Yoga program with clarity and an emphasis on the IM=X® Five Fundamentals.

Your IM=X® Yoga Practical Exam must be submitted within three months of your IM=X® Yoga certification course.

IM=X® Barre Certification

IM=X® Barre Practical Exam: For this Practical Exam, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability to instruct all exercises of the IM=X® Barre sequences emphasizing the IM=X® Five Fundamentals.

Your IM=X® Barre Practical Exam must be submitted within three months of your IM=X® Barre certification course.

IM=X® Cycle/Tower Practical Exam: For this Practical Exam, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability to instruct all eleven IM=X® Cycle/Tower sequences while emphasizing the IM=X® Five Fundamentals.

Your IM=X® Cycle/Tower Practical Exam must be submitted within three months of your IM=X® Cycle/Tower certification course.
