About: The IM=X® Story

We are innovative exercise scientists turned entrepreneurs who are dedicated to helping others.

The traditional pilates system of the 1930's was an innovative approach to core training at its time, but did not address the needs of today’s fitness consumer nor did it take into consideration some aspects of the physical sciences. Fast Forward to 1998 – Elyse McNergney, M.A., M.Ed. equipped with the expertise of a 600+ hour pilates certification, paired with an Ivy League education in Exercise Physiology, entered the scene with a new cutting-edge approach called IM=X® Pilates and Fitness. The updates to the traditional concepts and practices reflect her scientific background as well as her talent as a former choreographer, and cater to the goals of many different types of customers.

New to IM=X®

How Do I Get Started?

If you are brand new to IM=X® Pilates and Fitness then we suggest you start with an Introductory Private Session or even a series of privates before jumping into the group classes. A discounted introductory session will familiarize you with our patented Xercizer (reformer) and other equipment. Your certified instructor will give you some awesome pointers on how to decompress your spine, exhale to recruit your abs and use your core muscles to perform any exercise. These key fundamental techniques will help you create tremendous results.

Your IM=X® Certified Personal Trainer will guide you through a total-body workout - prepare to sweat! Please wear comfortable workout attire and arrive early to fill out a brief form. Another great advantage to having a private session is the assistance you will receive while stretching and lengthening your posture — i.e. if you need a boost to elongate the low back, your trainer will literally give you a lift! After your workout, we can help you pick the membership plan that is best for your goals.

Simply put, IM=X® is pilates re-choreographed for quicker results! It is a cross-conditioning system that includes our signature moves combined with pilates exercises with for more resistance and cardio training. Many of our workouts are essentially more athletic than you will find in traditional pilates. IM=X® practices reflect the newest research on core training and stabilization so that our customers become fit and spine healthy. Workouts can be targeted to specific populations (i.e. athletes, seniors, back pain, pregnancy); or tailored for a specific goal.

What Types of Classes are Offered?

Integrated Movement Xercize (IM=X®) is a complete system of over 250 sequences that can be blended in a countless number of ways - providing endless variety so that you are always challenged and never bored. Some sessions will be completely on the Xercizer (reformer) while others will incorporate elements of mat, tower, cycling, jog squares, body bars, weights, ballet barre, and more. We always recommend starting out with our signature "Basic" workout (don't be fooled by the name - it is still quite challenging); then you will have the opportunity to sample a wide variety of formats so that you can find your favorites!

What Types of Memberships are Offered?

At IM=X®, we offer a choice of Private or Semi-Private Training sessions. Private Training is a one-on-one session scheduled around your availability and customized to suit your needs and goals. Duet sessions are also available, allowing you to train with a friend or partner, and offering the same privacy and flexible scheduling. Semi-Private Training is a small group class led by a certified IM=X® Pilates instructor who will guide you through each session, start to finish. Class sizes are always limited so you receive plenty of individual attention and feedback. Get the best of both worlds with an Elite Membership: one Private Training session per week, as well as unlimited access to Semi-Private classes.
Sessions are available in memberships or packages. A membership is a monthly rate and the longer you commit, the more you save! If you’re not ready to commit to a monthly membership, packages are also available for Semi-Private and Private sessions, allowing you to book 10- 20- or 40- sessions at your convenience.

Our members who take 2-3 sessions per week report significant changes.
